University of Portsmouth (UOP) students are ranked in the top 25 Universities across the whole UK.

June 14, 2018

Smashing all previous rankings, the University of Portsmouth has claimed it’s place within the Guardian University Guide for 2019. Outperforming established Universities gives everyone here at James Oliver Properties a deepened sense of pride as many of us graduated back in 2005 and 2006. To see how far UOP have come in the last 15 years is mind blowing and the partnerships and opportunities this brings the city is profound.

It was earlier this week we discussed the course a tenant had enrolled on for 2018 -2019 with aspirations of becoming an Optometrist, which further highlights the ever broadening array of higher education on offer to students flocking to the City. The University of Portsmouth Dental academy being built and now serving the population of Portsmouth as a free provision highlights the positive impact of this rapid progression. The University is surely approaching the top spot in the South of England?

This is great news for students looking to secure premium accommodation as we continue to guard the top spot for providing housing, apartments and a top quality service to match. James Oliver Properties thrive on competition and we know that like the University of Portsmouth, our housing developments are helping to put the city on the map as a number one destination to live/ study.

Our houses were all snapped up back in January 2018 for the academic year September 2018- July 2019. We hope that the University of Portsmouth can also experience fully subscribed academic courses for the year ahead, let’s make 2018-19 a massive one!

Tips for exam stress and good luck to all University of Portsmouth students undertaking exams, coursework and dissertations!

May 16, 2018

Good luck to all our students who have been busy participating in exams, submitting coursework/ dissertations and are eagerly awaiting their hard-earned results.

For those feeling the pressure here is a few of our tips along with a website links to help overcome exam/ coursework stress. The feeling will not last forever and try your best to keep it one day at a time. Take control of today as worrying about what might be is counter-productive.

As Portsmouth University graduates ourselves, we remember this difficult time well and wanted to offer some friendly advice that lead to our success.

Top tips:

1) Prioritise/ schedule your time- time management is key

2) Exercise and eat well – food for the brain!

3) Avoid social media (distractions) and focusing on friends or classmates you perceive to be ahead/ behind you- put the focus on yourself. Of course, reach out to friends/ classmates to talk about your stress, share information- we are not suggesting you go at it alone!

4) Schedule your day to have breaks and reward yourself so you have something to work towards!

5) Self belief- give yourself affirmations in the mirror to set the scene for the day. “I am a success” “I can do this” and visualise your graduation day!

Advice is only a suggestion- if the above are not suitable we always go by the motto when offered advice :
“if the hat doesn’t fit don’t wear it!”

We hope you get the results you deserve!

Portsmouth Football Club to become partners with Portsmouth University and the UOP logo to appear on the 2018/19 kit!

May 7, 2018

In an excellent move for both local residents and Portsmouth University students and staff there has been a 3 year deal made with Portsmouth Football Club to become the new main club partner! This not only means that the logo will appear on front of Pompey’s shirts from the start of the 2018/19 season but it reaffirms the magic combination of higher education and the emotional connection citizens have with PFC. We are hopeful that this partnership deal will in turn open new doors to graduates and those looking for placements whilst studying hard here at Portsmouth university.

The talk must have gone so well with the 2 year deal that was on the cards both sides went two feet in and committed to a 3 year deal- excellent stuff!

Students- if the projections are correct you could be in for a treat, using the facilities at Fratton Park and discounted tickets!
